Although the clothing business is not as big as the smartphone business, it still has a promising prospect. So do not be surprised if global OEMs like Apple and Xiaomi still consistently and focused on working on the business. Even according to latest data released by IDC shows that Apple and Xiaomi donate the global clothing business. Do not believe?
Based on data published by IDC latest, it is known that Apple topped the list of wearable wear shipments with 13.5% growth per year. While other clothing manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Fitbit, Huawei, and Garmin are all in the top 5 list.
The Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi, who recently released Xiaomi Mi Band 3 was listed as an OEM in second place after Apple. Meanwhile, Xiaomi announced that today, pre-orders for Xiaomi Mi Band 3 have exceeded 600,000 units and this is clearly a positive indication in the wearable business for the next quarter that has been achieved by Xiaomi.
Fitbit also managed to maintain a third position, followed by another Chinese manufacturer, Huawei who grabbed fourth position and its market share increased 100% compared to last year.
The relatively unknown Garmin is stuck in fifth place but IDC predicts that if Garmin can develop R & D and be more responsive in following the current trend in the clothing industry, it is not impossible for Garmin to catch up with its competitors.
