WhatsApp Update for Android has added some brand-new features and bug fixes. Previously, WhatsApp had fixed the timestamp problem found in the beta 2.18.109. Today, the popular instant messaging app has introduced another feature that lets users download deleted media files.
Previously, if a user deleted a media file located in the WhatsApp folder stored on a smartphone, the user would not normally be able to download it again. But the messaging app owned by Facebook is now introducing a new feature that will allow users to re-download deleted media files.
Appropriate information obtained from WABetaInfo, through its latest update, WhatsApp now allows users to download deleted media files, such as images, video, GIF, voicemail, and documents.
The feature was introduced in the latest WhatsApp update between versions 2.18.106 and 2.18.110. New features currently available in WhatsApp version 2.18.113 on Android OS-based devices.
Interestingly, the new WhatsApp feature indicates that the app will store the user’s media files on the server even after the files are downloaded. Previously, WhatsApp store media files that have not been downloaded for 30 days and will remove them from the server once the user downloads them. But now, WhatsApp will apparently keep the media file on its own server so that users can download it again if accidentally deleted.
Note that if you delete media files from a folder on your smartphone, you must have a message in which the sender sent you a specific file, in order to download it again.
This information comes amid criticism of Facebook’s misuse of data. However, WhatsApp recently told its users that their data and communications are secured with end-to-end encryption and there is no possibility of third parties being able to read messages and listen to calls that you and your friends are doing-even WhatsApp itself.
