As news we’ve ever said before, today Xiaomi officially released their latest flagship product Redmi Note 5. Interesting enough when the Indonesian smartphone market is in the middle of fierce competition, especially for the middle segment.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 comes in two variants with RAM 4G + 64 GB ROM and 3 GB + 32 GB ROM. variants, but the version we hold is a variant with 4GB RAM and 64 GB ROM. Redmi Note 5 can be said as anticipated Xiaomi products on the trend of the use of Artificial Intelligent technology (AI) or artificial intelligence that is now applied to the smartphone camera.
Well, what is interesting from Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, following a brief exposure about the figure of Redmi Note 4 advancement.
Design
Display Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is obviously more current than Redmi Note 4. As a successor product, Redmi Note 5 now has a more sleek and trendy look with 18: 9 full view screen and minimal bezel. So, although the Redmi Note 5 screen is almost 6 inches in size, still looks compact and nice grasped.

At the bottom looks plain, because Redmi Note 5 is no longer rely on the physical home button, all have been replaced with a virtual button. At the top there is an infrared sensor whose function is to support the Mi Remote feature. While the bottom there is no frontal change, just filled Micro USB charger hole, 3.5 mm audio jack, speaker and mic hole.
Having dimensions of 158.6 x 75.4 x 8.1 mm, Redmi Note 5 is quite weighty with a weight of about 181g. This is still fairly reasonable because Redmi Note 5 carrying a battery of 4000 mAh.
Performance
Performance Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is supported by the latest chipset Snapdragon 636 which is still somewhat rarely used on smartphones that circulate in Indonesia. Xiaomi claims that Redmi Note 5 is the first product in the world to use this shipset. For those not familiar with this chipset, we’ll outline briefly.
Snapdragon 636 is a continuation of the powerful 600 series thanks to Qualcomm Spectra ISP (for camera), Kryo 260 CPU built on ARM Cortex technology, and Snapdragon X12 LTE modem with downlink capability up to 600 Mbps. Designed to support advanced photography and enhanced games, Snapdragon 636 offers long battery life and fast LTE speeds for high-end smartphones and tablets.
“Kryo” itself previously used by Qualcomm for custom cores on high-end chipsets, such as 835 and 845. So, this time Qualcomm bring the specification on 600 series chipset or middle class to be more affordable.
Kryo 260 has 8 cores that are divided into 2 clusters, for high performance will be assigned to the CPU base of Cortex A73. Last year, the Cortex A73 is still used on flagship smartphone (top). Another one is the cluster to save power, there are 4 cores based on the famous Cortex A53 is power-saving. However, these cores have been modified to produce better performance and power savings.
Overall, the Snapdragon 636 processor side offers performance improvement about 50% higher than Snapdragon 625.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is packed with the latest MIUI 9.5 alias interface. Custom ROM is based on Android Oreo 8.1. Well, in addition to a performance that makes amazement, it turns out Redmi Note 5 also supports dual SIM with 4G standby. This is a bid that is still quite rare in middle-class smartphone.
Camera
Not only favor the performance, Xiaomi pack Redmi 5 Note with a capable camera. Redmi Note 5 main camera consists of 12 MP + 5 MP.
