Hisense, a China-based company, is rumored to be working on a smartphone that supports the next network technology, which is 5G. The smartphone is said to be released in 2019.

This information was revealed based on an interview with Fang Xueyu, as General Manager of Hisense Communications. He said that Hisense has conducted a series of R & D (research and development) to apply 5G technology to the next Hisense device, for about 3 years into the future.

Back in 2015, Hisense joined the 5G IMT2020 team formed by The Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the National Development and Reform Commission. Hisense and the two government agencies are also involved in the development of the NB-IoT standard project for the China Communications Standard Association.

Hisense also joined the 5G Terminal initiative plan created by China Mobile this year to develop the 5G industry.

Fang Xueyu said that Hisense will start developing a 5G prototype device this year and then begin testing the technology next year. The first 5G smartphone will be launched in early 2019.

Need to know, Hisense is one of the most consistent companies in the mobile industry for over a decade. Hisense has one of the most powerful R & D teams in China. However, their management restructuring in 2014 caused its competitors to overtake Hisense.

Lately, Hisense has released several exciting smartphones that combine design, functionality and competitive pricing.
