An unpleasant news again hit Apple. A week ago a number of users complained about the weakness of the password on their latest iPhone. This time, the iPhone XS and XS Max are reported by some users to experience problems that are quite disturbing related to the battery charging process.
Many users have reported on Apple’s discussion forums that their iPhone XS and XS Max units will not automatically start charging when the Lightning cable is connected to their iPhone unit. Surprisingly, the charging process starts when the user does a few taps on the screen. Like “waking up” the iPhone XS and XS Max screens and the iPhone starts charging.
This is evidenced by a netizen named Unbox Therapy account who uploaded a video to YouTube (see below), where he collected several units of iPhone XS and XS Max and tested the charging process one by one from the unit. Most of the units of the iPhone XS and XS Max do seem to have problems in the process of charging. Meanwhile, strangely the iPhone X does not show any problems in the charging process at all.
The iPhone XS and XS Max units are connected by lightning cables, not directly charging. However, after the screen is tapped, then the iPhone XS and XS Max units charge. I do not know if this is caused by a bug in the always on display feature that seems to “block” the charging process to the iPhone XS and XS Max.
So far Apple has not given any comments or responses related to this problem. But netizens who are furious with this problem, have given the hashtag #chargegate in various online forums. There is a prediction that this is related to bugs in the iPhone XS and XS Max devices, and it is hoped that Apple can immediately roll out a software update to correct this problem.
